Sometimes you look at people and think, man they must have it all together. Especially those in what I call glamour jobs. Is there really such a thing? This is arguable.
I believe we must share stories to expose what reality really is and talk about vulnerable moments that can be teaching moments for others.
The podcast I listened to this morning is an episode of Slo Mo with Mo Gawdat and British model Jean Campbell. Jean shares a heartfelt and candid journey through the challenges of modeling and how at a very young age the demands Jean experienced, ended up coming to a screeching hault with her body unresponsive.
We often hear about abuse of drugs, alcohol and many other substances, but we don’t talk about the fallout of chronic fatigue and stress.
Starting Young- She began her modeling career at just 16, stepping into the spotlight. Jean grappled with the realities of living with persistent pain, which has significantly
influenced her life. Jean discusses the pressures of fame and the journey of turning her challenges into a platform for impact. Many times depending on what country she was modeling in, they would give her specific requirements, it could be to gain or loose weight at the drop of a dime.
Through her story, she emphasizes the importance of openness and the reality that many face similar struggles, prompting listeners to consider how they manage pressure and wellness in their own lives.
I hope you are as inspired as I was. One thing I felt complelled to share is her comment on always being in competition with someone, and how much this industry has changed so much since instagram and photo touch ups. Augmented reality.
Her narrative is a testament to strength and vulnerability, urging a conversation about mental and physical health in the modeling industry and beyond.
Have an amazing day,
